About Heather
I am a business writer, living in Auckland, New Zealand. I have two great passions (outside my family) - food and writing.
As a child, my parents marked every milestone with food ... no significant event ever occurred without something delicious. Whether it was a fantastic restaurant in Johannesburg's CBD like Paolo's or the Marseilles or a Roast Chicken Dinner on my birthday, food defined how we celebrated. This has given me a tremendous love for the kitchen and everything that goes with it. I get excited over hearty stews, a new recipe and tiny cake forks.
In 2008, we arrived in New Zealand with our ten week old little girl. We have built a wonderful life here in Auckland, and like my parents, living it through what we eat!
My blog begins ....
If we are what we eat, then I plan to be interesting, exotic, comfortable and balanced. Over the past five years, I have developed a love for the mainstream cooks (Barefoot Contessa, Julia, Martha, Jamie, Nigella and Gordon) and celebrated key milestones in 2011 with Annabel Langbein. Together with my best friend and partner John, we have cooked, and cooked, and cooked.
This year is going to be significant. I have a beautiful daughter, a loving partner and a wonderful family. I have so much to be grateful for. And now I plan to give it all some depth through my love of writing and food.
Getting to this point in my life was a rollercoaster (flying highs and roaring lows). To give my journey context, I will reminisce and celebrate. And I hope you will enjoy it with me.
